      Why Southern Mid-Coast Maine?

Harpswell Maine | Southern Mid-Coast Maine Real EstateOnce you visit our beautiful area- Southern Midcoast Maine and Merrymeeting Bay, you won’t want to leave. This beautiful coastal region has white sandy beaches, unspoiled off shore islands, golf courses, shopping, excellent schools, and lots of scenic vistas.

It’s a great place to live, work, and retire. It’s also a great place to buy a home, and here are some reasons why:

      1. The Bath-Brunswick area has a stable employment base, low crime rate, and is within a short commute to Maine largest city, Portland.

      2.  Brunswick Maine and the Southern Mid-Coast of Maine is very “cosmopolitan” because of Bowdoin College, Bath Iron Works and two hospitals, Mid-Coast Regional and Parkview, all of which bring new people from all over the nation into our community.

      3. It's hard to find a better place to live where you can enjoy the beautiful rocky coast of Maine and still be within an easy drive to the mountains and the Maine wilderness with its excellent fresh water fishing, hunting, hiking and camping.

Where is the Southern Mid-Coast Region?

Situated on the coast of Maine, the southern Mid-Coast area in just 2 ½ hours from Boston, and conveniently located between the state’s major population centers.

The area includes the communities of Brunswick, Bath, Durham, Pownal, Harpswell, Freeport, Lisbon Falls, Topsham, Bowdoinham, West Bath, Bowdoin, Richmond, Phippsburg, Wiscasset, and Woolwich.

These picturesque communities create a special blend of small town coastal living with upscale shopping, health care and cultural attributes. The area also includes Merrymeeting Bay, a large fresh water confluence of six rivers, the Kennebec, the Androscoggin, the Cathance, the Eastern, the Muddy, the Abbagadasset , and many smaller streams.

The Sheepscot River and the New Meadows River are also important waterways for boating enthusiasts. Harpswell is comprised of 2 rocky peninsulas and connected islands which project into Casco Bay. Route 1 and I-295 provide easy access to Portland, 25 miles south (30 minutes driving time). Bath is northeast of Brunswick on Route 1, 8 miles (10 minutes driving time); Augusta is 30 miles north by I-295.
